Sujet : It's Qwark, Not Quark

Membre supprimé

Sometimes I do not get why people would misspell Captain Qwarks' name unless if they're not a fan of the Ratchet and Clank franchise. It doesn't highly annoy me that much, but it sometimes bug me that some people who are still fans of Ratchet and Clank, still spell Qwark's name incorrectly.

When people spell the other way around with a "U" rather than a "W", I keep thinking that they're talking about Quark from Star Trek the Next Generation. emoji

I know it's a minor misspelling of one character's name, but do you find it rather annoying that many people spell Captain Qwark's name wrong and spell his name as "Quark" instead? emoji

Not really, my friend. Actually, Qwark is actually spelled correct spelling wise Quark, so I don't get annyoned by it. In fact, I understand why they would get confused with it. Ironically, Quark from Star Trek the Next Generation is played by Armin Shimerman who plays Dr. Nefarious!

I knew you would at least mention Armin Shimerman in this thread, especially when I paste a picture of Quark in the beginning of the post. emoji

And what you said is pretty much true. People would think spelling Quark would be the right way of spelling Qwark's name since spelling the name with a "W" is incorrect in the English language.

I get annoyed about it, I admit emoji probably because Im a bit of a freak of the series XD

But it's a common mistake since all words in English 'should' have a U after the Q. I think I even did it a few times when I first came into the fandom, lol.

What would you expect? A huge Dr. Nefarious fan knows his actors, especially if it's the actor who plays the mad scentist emoji. And yeah, that is what I meant, which is the reason why most people spell it with a U instead of W, although you do have a point, people who are fans and know the series more should indeed know that his name is spelled alternatively with a W.

Or a high school principal in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Never knew Armin was in the first couple of seasons in that show, until…

He gets eaten up by some kind of monster in the Graduation episode.

I've just found this thread and noticed that everyone kept saying that Quark was from The Next Generation…. I'm far too OCD to leave it be without pointing out that Quark was from Deep Space Nine, not TNG…. yeah, I know that the thread has been inactive for several years and all the people who posted in it are all inactive… but the "compulsive" part of "obsessive compulsive disorder" is in there for a reason….. emoji

Is that the Ice King?

Uhhh. That depends how much of Adventure Time's continuity you know….

It's Ice King's human incarnation before he was cursed by the Crown…

It still boggles my mind that a show like Adventure Time has a continuity.
Then again, Adventure Time just boggles my mind.

True, its so stupid. I always see people doing it wrong. Kwark (which it a pie flavor here) or Quark. Just like Jack & Dexter and Rachet & Clank.

Qwark is a Ratchet and Clank character. Quark is a Star Trek character. A quark is a subatomic particle.

Sciency names are cool. Misspelled names are also cool.

Fun fact: One of the epilogue magazines in the first game actually makes this mistake.

On purpose?

I wouldn't know, it just says Quark instead of Qwark.
